OUR STORY
Cancer, the silent disease
- Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. In 2022, there were 20 million new cases and 9.7 million cancer deaths globally.
- It is anticipated that by 2040, the number of new cancer cases per year will increase to 29.9 million and the number of cancer-related deaths will increase to 15.3 million.
- In general, the highest cancer rates are found in countries with populations that have the highest levels of life expectancy, education, and standard of living. However, for some types of cancer, such as cervical cancer, the opposite is observed. The highest incidence rate for this cancer is found in countries whose populations have low levels of these metrics.
